The Herbal Lunatics made a rare and killer live appearance at the Moshpit in Sydney's inner west last Friday 🤘🌿 🤘 Fronted by Ben Brown, it's Ben and friends playing songs by his legendary old band, The Hellmenn 💀 Guitarist Tony Fewell (Brown Esky, Placebo Junkies), bassplayer Brett Hottes (Mope, The Future Device) and drummer Grant 'Lawry' Lawrence (Cruel World, Hostile Objects & too many more to name) completes the line up. Vale James Baker. Those who knew him well - like Ken Gormly, Kim Salmon and Tex Perkins - have posted some beautiful tributes since he left us on May 5. I was a big fan of most of the bands he played in, especially the Beasts of Bourbon, The Beasts, The Victims & the Scientists.  When The Victims re-formed as The Television Addicts, I was lucky enough to get to do a quick pre-gig  photo shoot with them around the corner from Newtown Social Club (formerly The Sando), in February 2015.  I got to spend a bit more time with James when I shot some portraits of him for Unbelievably Bad, at the Factory Theatre, in 2014. That time sticks with me the most; he was generous with his time and cool as fuck.  Another moment that comes to mind was seeing The Victims play their final show, in December 2023 at the Crowbar; what a gig.  Much love to Cath Podger and James' family and close friends ♥️ Some photos I shot of James over the years 📷  1 - 3.
